Hurricane Katrina September 2005

Hurricane Katrina September 2005

Just a very few of the recent Enforcement Support Posse Details:

December 30, 2006 - At this annual Special Detail, posse members provide security, crowd and traffic control at the 2006 Fiesta Bowl Parade.

November/December 2006 - In one of the most well known and visible special details, posse members provide nightly security patrols of valley shopping malls every evening during the holiday season. Since its inception in 1993, the Holiday Mall Patrol has become an annual event.

September 2005 - Along with over 100 other MCSO personnel, members of the Enforcement Support Posse deploy to New Orleans just days after Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast.

June 2005 - Enforcement Support Posse members help with security and traffic control during the Cave Creek Complex Fire.

July 2003 - MCSO is contracted to by the city of Litchfield Park to take over law enforcement services on July 1. Posse members are at the city’s Independence Day celebration providing crowd and traffic control.

May 2003 - Enforcement Support Posse members provide escort for the Law Enforcement Torch Run benefiting Arizona Special Olympics.

March 2003 - Deputies who are military reservists are called to active duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom and the Department of Homeland Security calls for increased security at the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant stretching the resources of MCSO District II. Posse members fill in for deputies deployed in the military or on special duty at Palo Verde by working patrol, prisoner transport and in the jail.

September 10 & 11, 2002 - In response to the increased Alert Level put out the Office of Homeland Security on the first anniversary of the terrorist attack on 9/11/01, the posse deploys to provide perimeter patrols as an extra layer of security at the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant, the nation’s largest.

June 2002 - Responding to a request from the Navajo County Sheriff, the MCSO/ESP deploys to Show Low, Arizona to assist in the evacuation of cities in that area due to the catastrophic Rodeo-Chedisky Fire. We also worked side by side with Arizona DPS and the National Guard at roadblocks and conducted “looter patrols” of the evacuated areas. Because we are volunteers, neither the citizens of Maricopa County or those affected by the fire paid for our service, thus representing Maricopa County as a good neighbor to those in need.
